Project Description

Kathleen Spehar, Director of the O’Shaughnessy Auditorium, received a $15,000 grant from the St. Paul Foundation. In 2014, The O’Shaughnessy Auditorium, an arts affiliate of St. Catherine University, received funding from the St. Paul Foundation to conduct Phase I of Women of Substance at 20. Foundation support enabled The O’Shaughnessy to work with Carlo Cuesta and Creation in Common to define the purpose, focus and impact goals of the series. This has been extremely valuable work, and we are now ready to move into Phase II. The re-launch of this signature series in 2016, on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, will culminate in the presentation of an anniversary festival as a primary celebratory event. This will also serve as the focal point from which to initiate action steps, re-define procedures and undertake practices identified from Phase I. They include creating a new business model that diversifies income and places mission at the center; developing relationships with campus stakeholders; cultivating champion supporters on campus and in the community; and growing engagement with audiences, including outreach to underserved youth, with an emphasis on girls and young women.
