Produce for Better Health Foundation Store Training

Date Awarded

Project Description

Holly Willis, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Program Director for Nutrition and Dietetics, was awarded $1,942 from the Produce for Better Health Foundation. The Store Tour Training Grant Program provides an opportunity for timely, innovative collaboration that will benefit not only our nutrition and dietetics students, but also the broader St. Catherine University and Hy-Vee customer communities. Part of the St. Catherine University mission is to educate students to lead and influence and to do this in a collaborative environment. This grant would allow our dietetics students to be trained by experienced supermarket dietitians; the student would then directly apply their learning by serving the University and Hy-Vee customer communities. Together, these efforts could promote healthier food choices. This grant would also provide the Hy-Vee RDs the support they need to address increasing requests for programming in their stores and communities. Our dietetics students could augment staff resources to increase the reach of both in-store tours and community events.
