Project Description
Vicki Schug, PhD, Professor of Nursing was awarded $7,500.00 for her project The Effect of Evaluator Training on Intra/Inter Rater Reliability in High-Stakes Assessment in Simulation. Clarity surrounding what is to be evaluated and the specific behaviors that students will need to exhibit to demonstrate competency is paramount. Equally important is the training of evaluators to assure good intra and inter-rater reliability. As outlined in the NLN statement on Fair Testing (NLN, 2012) a thoughtful and comprehensive review of all the factors needed for consideration of fair and reliable development and implementation of high stakes testing is necessary. This research project will yield results that will add to the high stakes research findings and further inform best practice in fair testing in the future.
