Dr. Munala is a professor in the public health department and is awarded $7500 to conduct a study to explore the experiences of widows who have undergone sexual cleansing. The Luo community of Western province, Kenya, believes that widows need to neutralize their cultural impurity by going through sexual cleansing after the burial of their husbands.
