Project Description

Amy Hamlin, Assistant Professor of Art/Art History received a $2,000 Faculty Research & Scholarly Activities grant to consider three episodes in a reception history of The Synagogue, a painting by the modern German artist Max Beckmann. The project finalizes research for a two-part article intended for a peer-reviewed journal and is stimulated by a research trip to Germany in January 2009. The social and pedagogical emphases of this project coincide with The College of St. Catherine's belief in social justice and liberal arts education.
