Project Description

Dr. Susan Bosher, Associate Professor of English, and Dr. Margaret Dexheimer Pharris, Associate Professor of Nursing, were awarded $10,000 to produce an anthology of essays that guide and inspire nurse educators to create an inclusive nursing education environment, where all students have an equal chance to succeed. Nursing education is has often been perceived by diverse students as non-supportive and, at times, hostile.

This project is a continuation of a previous Denny Award to Susan Bosher who issued a nation call for manuscripts. This call brought submissions from authors around the country who have unique perspectives and programs. Although this call received submissions from across the country, as intended, the authors needed extensive guidance and mentorship in the manuscript preparation process. This continuation of the project will complete a nursing education text that will guide nurse educators and administrators in creating an environment which culturally and linguistically diverse nursing students have equal opportunity to succeed,
