Project Description
The purpose of this study is to explore school nurses’ experiences working with transgender and gender diverse students and their parents/guardians. It has been well documented that transgender and gender diverse students visit the school nurse office with greater frequency than the rest of the students. It has also been established that school nurses have little or no training in LGBTQ health or gender diversity. It is hoped that this research will illuminate the need to provide better training and support for school nurses so they may better support this population as well as offer support to families of transgender and gender diverse students.
