Abstract
The purpose of this research was to examine course assignments that support preservice teachers’ knowledge of, and ability and intention to use, diverse literature for children in the context of an early literacy methods course. Nine female preservice teachers participated in this study. Primary data sources included a pre- and post-survey, a classroom library audit, and a lesson plan. The results indicate that preservice teachers gained exposure to and embraced the use of diverse literature.
