Project Description

Kathleen Spehar, Director of the O'Shaughnessy, received a $15,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to present the 50^th Anniversary Concerts by two of America’s most distinguished artists: instrumental/vocal innovator Meredith Monk and modern dance great Twyla Tharp. Both Monk and Tharp have had profound and lasting influences. Ms. Monk and her extraordinary company will be in residence April 14-16 for a dialogue at Walker Art Center, an open rehearsal for professional artists and university students, and a public performance. A pre-concert exhibition of her work will open in February 2016. The “Quartet Concert” will feature work from across Monk’s 50 years.
