Project Description

Mark Blegen, Associate Professor of Nutrition & Exercise Sciences, received a $5,000 Faculty Research & Scholarly Activities Grant to determine whether or not massage therapy, in conjunction with structured and monitored exercise, influences weight management. Specifically, the study aims to gain an understanding of how cortisol, mood, anxiety, and perceived stress influence weight regulation and to determine if receiving a weekly massage in conjunction with weekly structured and monitored exercise allows for effective weight loss.
