Project Description
Debra Filer, Professor of Nursing, received a $3,106 Faculty Research & Scholarly Activities Grant to gather quantitative as well as qualitative data from both nursing and art students, faculty researchers, and the seminar facilitator. The project hopes to see if nursing and art students will improve their observational skills by looking at portraits under the guidance of the art educator and then translate those skills respectively to the observation of patients and other works of art. The study will help students express an increased value of each other’s disciplines as well as the liberal arts and the professional study of nursing.
