Project Description
Monica Rudquist, Assistant Professor of Art and Art History, is awarded $20,000 to mount an exhibition in the Catherine G. Murphy Gallery that will feature a new body of her ceramic artwork alongside the work of her mentor and renowned ceramicist, Judy Onofrio. For visual artist, especially in the field of ceramics, the process of developing new work is research. The field of ceramics itself is rooted in community. The proposed collaboration between mentor and mentee will create a space where their sculptures can be seen in context of one another. Collaborations such as this opens the door to new approaches and ideas. The exhibit will coincide with the annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, to be held in the Twin Cities in 2019.
