Erica Alley, St. Catherine University

Dr. Erica Alley, Ph.D., NIC-Advanced, holds her degree in ASL/English Interpreting Research and Pedagogy from Gallaudet University. Dr. Alley currently serves as the Program Director for the Master of Arts in Interpreting Studies and Communication Equity (MAISCE) at St. Catherine University. In this position she teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate level. At the undergraduate level she teaches mostly skills based and writing intensive courses for students in their Junior and Senior years. At the graduate level she teaches research methodology and research development courses. Prior to joining St. Kate’s, Erica was a staff interpreter and adjunct professor at Gallaudet University. Erica has published and presented on the topics of video relay service, video remote interpreting, trilingual interpretation, and gendered language use in interpretation.

Gloria Nathanson, St. Catherine University

Dr. Gloria Nathanson, AuD is a Professor in the ASL/Interpreting Department at St. Catherine University, Minnesota. Her Bachelor of Science degree is in Language Development with emphasis on those with Hearing Loss. Her doctoral degree is in Audiology. She works primarily with adult second language learning students and with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. She has been part of the Deaf Family Mentor program for over 5 years. She has an interdisciplinary certificate in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Infants, Toddlers and their Families: Collaboration and Leadership from Gallaudet University. She sits on Minnesota’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Advisory Board. Specialty: ASL, Language Acquisition and Learning, Deaf Culture, Deaf Mentor, Educational Interpreting
