Abstract
In this lectureship, designed to honor the work of Sister Anne Joachim Moore, Maggie Dexheimer Pharris will reflect on the synergistic potential of social justice and academic work in the context of current social forces. We are educating students in a time and in a country where there is a rapidly increasing inequity in economic, social, and environmental resources. Students who come to St. Kate's are both under-resourced and over-resourced, both under-privileged and over-privileged. Looking through the lenses of a unitary-participatory paradigm and Catholic social teaching and intellectual tradition, Pharris will reexamine the principles put forth by Sister Anne Joachim Moore to propose unique opportunities before us as an educational community.
